Peggy Ann Clark Sheets was called home to be with her Heavenly Father January 25, 2025, at the age of 81. She is survived by her husband, Max, of 61 years, sons Mick (Pam) and Ken (Suzie), and grandchildren Emily, Alexander, Phillip, and Joshua.
Peggy was born on a farm in Pickaway County in 1943. In 1960, she was crowned Miss Pumpkin Show in Circleville. At the 1961 Ohio State Fair she won 2nd place Queen of Queens. In 1962, she was First Runner-up in the Miss Columbus Sesquicentennial Pageant. Peggy graduated Cum Laude with a BS degree and an MS degree in Science Education from The Ohio State University. This was a time when very few women studied the sciences, let alone beauty queens.
Peggy started her teaching career at Mifflin High School instructing Math and Physics. She taught and supervised student teachers at Otterbein University and then moved to Upper Arlington High School teaching Chemistry and Physics. While there, she was the Head of the Science Department and started the Science Honors program. She won the Teacher of the Year award from the American Chemical Society in 1981. In 2003 she won the Colonel George F. Leist Distinguished Teacher Award from Bowling Green State University. Peggy retired from teaching in 2004 and was inducted into the Upper Arlington Schools Educator Hall of Fame in 2017.
Peggy was very active in the Condit Presbyterian Church. She sang in the choir and worked as the church treasurer. She served numerous terms as an Elder and a Trustee.
Peggy and Max started the farming business in 1967 with the purchase of 85 acres in Delaware County. They bought the land and house on Dent Road in 1971 and moved there from Westerville. Through the years they have acquired approximately 1000 acres. She was involved in all parts of the business while teaching school and raising 2 sons. Peggy Ann Clark Sheets was truly a remarkable person that will be sorely missed by all that knew her.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to the Condit Presbyterian Church.
Memory Lane Sunbury is honored to care for Peggy's family at this time.
