Francis L. Smith (Georgie) was born in Chauncey, Ohio on November 11, 1934. He went home to be with the Lord on December 31, 2022. Francis was 88 years young, and still had a very sharp mind. Francis was a Christian man who was very blessed by the Lord.
Francis proudly served his county in the United States Army in the Fourteenth Field Armored Division Artillery and then the Fourth Armored Division. Upon returning home, Francis began working for The Kroger grocery chain for approximately twenty years before moving on to Ross-Abbott Laboratories where he finally retired after another twenty-five years. Francis also went back to school while working for Abbott to obtain his engineering license. During this time, he also continued to work, and helped raise his family.
Francis married the love of his life Clara in 1960. They were happily married for fifty-two years, and they both raised their six children before her passing in 2012. After Clara passed, Francis became a “snowbird” enjoying his family, the sunshine, and warm weather in Florida.
Francis was also a songwriter, poet, writer, and talented harmonica player while enjoying a passion for nostalgic music. Francis was a man with many talents and was loved by everyone who knew him. He had a kind and gentle soul. He was an amazing brother, dad, and grandfather to many, and a friend to all.
Francis will be forever loved by his family and missed by all. He is proceeded in death by his father, George Smith; mother, Clara M Smith; wife, Clara E. Smith (Sue); grandsons, Robbie Smith, Jason Smith; sisters, Luella Henry Doris Kean, Jeannie Lute; brothers, Everett Smith, Trent Smith, and Eddie Smith.
Francis is survived by his loving children, Tammy Halterman (Dennis Oyler), Crystal Smith-Oxley (David Oxley), Cindy Sevenoff (Chris Sevenoff), Holly Overly, Christopher Smith, and Angie Smith-Nester (Ronald Nester); sisters, Betty Hill, Trena England (Gary); several grandchildren and great grandchildren, Crystal (Michael), Skylar, Bobby, Kaleb, Damion (Brooke), Kevin, Alexis, Kayla, Jordan, Trent, James, Demi, Michael (Kyna), Shaelynn, Khari, Savannah, Ferrari, Elizabeth, Sydney, Marisa, Timothy, Karson and Elijah, David, Dominic and Savannah; and cousin, Kenny Ray Dillon.
