Doris M. Ballog, nee Chervank, of Lansing, Ohio, died January 9th at the age of 97, after several months of increasing debility from heart failure. She is survived by daughters Connie Griffith, Carol Ballog (Gary Kopp), Debbie Ballog (Mike Hinckley), and Amy Dutt (Scott Dutt); 3 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; the remaining members of her sorority, Alpha Pi Sigma, Beta Chapter, where she was a past supreme officer with 50-year membership; her several long running bridge groups; friends at Rittenhouse Square Condos; and the kazoo band members at Brookdale Trillium in Columbus, Ohio. She is predeceased by her former husband of 36 years, Robert Ballog of New Athens, Ohio, and many friends and associates.
She fondly remembered her years living in Bellaire, Ohio, where she was active in the Presbyterian Church as a Sunday school teacher, choir member, and office assistant; and in the Child Guidance and PTA groups. After moving to Columbus in 1960, she worked in several careers at Honeywell, Ohio Dominican College, Hartzler Mortgage, finally retiring from Ross Labs (now Abbott). She also found enjoyment playing tennis until the age of 85, and swimming in the pool at Rittenhouse Square.
After moving to Brookdale, Trillium Crossing she quickly became involved in exercise classes, yoga, swimming, and bridge. Always a music lover, she often sang during happy hour, joined the Kazoo band, and even danced to the 'Stripper' a few times in her flapper dress.
Not wanting a party in her honor which she could not attend, she requested there not be a funeral nor memorial service. In lieu of flowers, family asks that donations be made to the Columbus Park of Roses Foundation.
Her remains will be laid to rest near her parents at Linwood Cemetery in Blaine, Ohio.
