Norman Gerald "Jerry" Cross
August 18, 1945 — May 10, 2023
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Norman Gerald "Jerry" Cross at the age of 77. Jerry was born in Columbus, Ohio on August 18, 1945 to the late Hugo and Jeanne Cross. Jerry passed away on May 10, 2023. Jerry graduated from Olentangy High School in 1963 and attended The Ohio State University majoring in architecture.
Jerry had many interests throughout the years – enjoying a good cigar with friends at his favorite cigar lounge, teaching wine tasting through community education, a glass of fine scotch or a delicate white wine, entertaining guests, listening to music and attending concerts of his favorite band, Def Leppard. He had a keen eye for photography and beauty in nature. He loved animals but was particularly fond of his cats. He was an entrepreneur that owned and operated his own cleaning business for many years.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Hugo Harold Cross and (Bessie) Jeanne Mercer Cross. He is survived and lovingly remembered by his only sibling, his sister, Brenda (Cris) Greenhalgh; his nieces, Brittany (Vic) Yockey and Lauren (Michael) Gibbs; his grandnieces and grandnephews, Lilyan Haller, Claire Yockey, Logan Gibbs, Alice Yockey and Finnley Gibbs; and by many other loving family members and friends.
We extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at Capri Gardens Rehabilitation & Nursing Care and Bella Care Hospice for showing Jerry unprecedented care, dignity, and respect during his final days. A gathering of family and friends to remember Jerry and celebrate his impact on their lives will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials donations are preferred to Bella Care Hospice through the Celebrate Life Foundation or to your local animal rescue or humane society in Jerry’s memory.
